The R-21 vehicle is usually designated "A-11" and run out of North Station. A-13 is not usually staffed and is mostly hired for events such as sporting events, concerts, etc. The ambulance is staffed by off-duty personnel during for these events. However, the ambulance can be placed into service by the on-duty crew during busy periods if there are enough personnel on duty.

The designation of each vehicle remains constant ("R-21") but the vehicle itself may have its response assignment changed in order to rotate vehicles in assure the most appropriate use. For example, this vehicle was recently reassigned from the "A-13" position at "A-11" position at North Station.
