  • 7/18 Severe Storm - On the evening of July 18 a severe storm came through the Amherst area. Between 7:45pm and 8:15pm, there were 6 fire calls (and only 2 fire engines). Between 7:45pm and midnight, there were a total of 12 calls. Some of these calls lasted into the early morning. Due to the large number of fire calls and limited resources, ambulances were forced to respond to fire calls. Types of calls included: fires, power lines down, rescue (above), EMS, and trees on buildings. Off duty personnel were called in to assist.
